Last summer, with the shocking loss of our friend and musical hero Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit, we felt helpless, yet compelled to try our best and raise some money in his honour. With the help of some incredible prize donations, we raised £1,500 in two days, which went towards a fund in his honour.

Scott’s family have recently announced that this fund will become Tiny Changes, a charity dedicated to raising awareness, promoting initiatives, advancing understanding, and supporting the voices of children and young people’s mental health.

We are proud to be raising money for such an incredible cause, and thankful to the local artists, businesses and organisations who have offered such generous prizes.

We will draw names on the night of The Hug and Pint’s birthday on 14th June, and then we will deliver, including free postage, your prizes to wherever you are in the world.

Tickets are £5 and ON SALE NOW –> http://bit.ly/2HIIPyX

4 years.
5 secret bands.
100 tickets.

Detour Scotland presents The Hug and Pint ’s 4th Birthday Party.

We are honoured to once again celebrate our favourite wee venue in the country, with some of our favourite bands in the universe. The lineup will be secret, as is tradition. But it will never not be amazing.

Previous acts to have played our secret birthday lineups include Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit, Admiral Fallow, BMX Bandits, Paws, Bossy Love, Be Charlotte, Free Love, Yummy Fur, Spook School and RM Hubbert.

Last year, in honour of our friend Scott Hutchison, we held a fundraising raffle on the night, featuring some incredible and generous prizes. We raised nearly £2,000 last year, and so we will be doing the same this year - and trying to beat that figure!

As we also did last year, we will be donating 20% of all ticket income to SAMH.

Tickets for this will be very limited, and capped at £12 (which is an unbelievable bargain for this lineup).

As we celebrate The Hug & Pint’s 3rd Birthday // 29.06.18 with another party hosted by Detour, featuring a secret lineup, we wanted to do something to honour our friend Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit. Scott played the 1st Birthday, and was always fantastically supportive of both Detour and The Hug & Pint, as well as of grassroots music and art in Scotland overall. So while we will be donating 20% of ticket price to SAMH, we will also be doing a raffle on the night, raising money for a new trust to be set up in Scott’s name.

We’ve teamed up with some amazing people to bring you some ridiculous prizes, and considering how good they are, and how good the cause is, we want to offer these prizes to everyone, even if you can’t make it to the show on Friday. So you can buy as many tickets as you want, online here, until 7pm on Friday 29th June. We will draw names on Friday night, and then we will deliver, including free postage, your prizes to wherever you are in the world.

So, without further ado, here are the prizes:

Exclusive Rock Action Records goodies, including signed Mogwai ‘Every Country’s Sun’ boxset, signed Mogwai ‘Rave Tapes’ boxset, signed Mogwai ‘Atomic’ art print and 12” vinyl, singed Aidan Moffat & RM Hubbert ‘Here Lies The Body art print and 12” vinyl, signed SACRED PAWS ‘Strike A Match’ art print and 12” vinyl, and signed Errors ‘Have Some Faith in Magic’ and ‘Lease of Life’ 12” vinyls.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous.

When we started our Soundcloud playlists, with our favourite Scottish tracks of the last month, we were chuffed that we were getting 10 or 12 tracks each time. The quality was great, and to have that amount of new music coming out each month from this wee country is amazing.

This month, we have 31 tracks. 31! That’s one track a day. One track of brilliant Scottish music, released every bloody day for a whole month.

There’s scuzzy garage punk, haunting folk, scathing political hip-hop, dreamy shoe-gaze, massive indie-pop anthems, and some of the best electronic music in the world from some of the most forward thinking producers out there.

If you don’t find something new to love here, then you’ve gone wrong m8.
